One Year and 50 Books

If you’ve ever come to visit me, you’ll notice my place is surrounded with books. They’re stacked up against the walls, on the dining room table, around the coffee table, in my bedroom and just about everywhere. No, I’m not a hoarder and neither am I messy person. It’s just that I’ve collected every book (500+) I’ve ever read and that’s a lot if you’re a voracious reader like me.

The passion for reading and writing comes from my late grandfather. When he passed away, I also inherited his collection so you can only imagine how cramped it is in here. Trust me, I have plans for some bookshelves soon. Unfortunately, this year has been chaos and I haven’t read as much as I would like to. My reading style is typically 4-5 books at a time and I haven’t even managed to finish one.

Starting now and through the end of 2011, I’ve committed myself to reading 50 books. I’ll be blogging as I finish each book to hold myself accountable. I’ve also decided to start the Chick Lit Reading Challenge. Chick lits are my guilty pleasure. They’re light, refreshing, and are often funny anecdotes about everyday female issues especially if they’re well written. I love that this challenge focuses on aspiring writers and upcoming works of fiction so there’s guaranteed to be some great content for me to read.

If you want to participate, follow the link below. If you’re looking to read more this year, I’d love to have you join me. It doesn’t have to be 50 books. It could be anything you make it. :)

If that’s a picture from your library of books that you own then color me impressed :-)

I’m like you thought, I love reading books (lots of ’em). Last year I was on a kick to get author’s autographs. Then again, I did a lot of conferences last year which made it somewhat easy to do so, now, not so much. Although LinkedOC’s been getting some good authors to visit (they put on a good event).

I intend to do a lot of writing this year, so reading is going to be a constant for me (and lots of it). I might read 50 books in the year, I might not. But I’m definitely going to get more reading (and writing) done this year. I’ll check in to see what you have in your hands :-)

Thanks Ricardo. Sadly that is not my collection but it’s quite similar to what I have at home. :)

Writing and reading are my main focus for this year. Best of luck to you!
