Love your blog. Nobody can pronounce my name right either… even my grandparents mispronounced both first and last names. It wasn’t until I was 30 and had a Czech roomate that I learned the proper pronounciation of my family name and its meaning. Now I am a lot more understanding of my grandparents’ tolerance of mispronounciation — they were just trying to fit in. I’m surprised they didn’t tell my Dad the correct pronounciation, but perhaps they themselves forgot as they tried to forget the Old Country.
